Fast, precise
Troy Brosnan wanted to create a unicorn out of tires. A tire that rolls incredibly fast, mills precisely through curves and, if necessary, decelerates well. As a starting point, the profile of Rekon, Minion DHF and HighRoller II was taken and designed in close collaboration with Troy during the 2018 World Cup season. The DH version of the DISSECTOR is ideal as a rear tire, whether for racing or in the bike park. The trail version also makes sense on the front wheel if you want a front tire that rolls easily and has good grip.
Technologies used
In this chapter we explain the technologies that the manufacturer uses for this product.
3C Maxx Terra
The right 3C mixture for enduro and freeride tires. Ease of movement uphill and excellent grip downhill characterize this mixture as well as a long service life.
EXO protection
This extremely cut and abrasion resistant material protects the sidewall of various MTB tires. It is very tightly woven, light and very flexible. As a result, the performance of the tires remains convincingly good.
EXO + Protection
The new EXO + construction combines two of the best puncture protection materials: SilkShield and EXO.
The SilkShield layer surrounds the entire tire from bead to bead, the EXO layer is mounted on the sidewalls. Together, the EXO + results in the following advantages:
27% better puncture protection on the tread *
51% more stable side wall *
28% more puncture protection *
* compared to the proven stable EXO carcass
Tires with EXO + Protection are built for aggressive trail riding and enduro races, and especially designed for the higher torque and weight of E-MTBs. First there are wide versions of the popular Minion DHF, Minion DHr II and Rekon with EXO + casings.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tubeless tires have many advantages: You can drive with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no hose, the risk of a breakdown also decreases. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for assembly with sealing milk than other "tubeless ready" tires. Like a real UST tubeless tire, the bead of the TR tire is completely covered with a rubber layer. As a result, tubing-free assembly is successful on all rims with standard dimensions when they are inflated for the first time and with little liquid. “Normal” MAXXIS MTB tires can also be fitted with tubeless sealant like tires from other manufacturers, as the carcass fabric is very dense. Only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved for tubeless assembly and guaranteed by MAXXIS. The tubeless assembly of other models is at your own risk.
Wide trail casing
The Wide Trail (WT) construction optimizes the tread layout and tire shape on today's modern wider rims. Traditional tires are developed for narrow rims and are too angular in shape on wide rims and thus not exactly optimal performance. WT tires are optimized for an inner rim width of 35 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an inner dimension between 30 and 39 mm.
