A real racing tire for real racers
Large volume, fast, with a lot of grip - the IKON delivers exemplary performance in the most varied of soil conditions, on hard to loose soil. On rocks and roots, even when it's wet, the 3C and eXCeption versions are particularly impressive. For very rough, rocky terrain, the IKON 3C is also available in the EXO Protection version, which safely protects the side walls with little additional weight. The IKON is now also available in many tubeless-ready versions and also in the enduro size 2.35″.

Technologies used
In this chapter we explain the technologies that the manufacturer uses in this product.
3C Maxx Speed
The fastest 3C compound for XC and some AllMountain / Enduro tires is designed for the lowest rolling resistance due to the hard substructure and the fast compound in the center of the tread, but with the non-slip compound on the sides it also offers superior grip in curves, even in the wet. The very long service life is also typical of MAXXIS.
EXO Protection
This extremely cut and abrasion resistant material protects the sidewall of various MTB tires. It is very tightly woven, light and very flexible. As a result, the performance of the tires remains convincingly good.
eXception (EXC)
The eXCeption specification includes fine-thread casings (120 tpi) and a specific compound combination that is light and very durable, offers excellent grip in wet and dry conditions, and has a very low rolling resistance. This is what the top XC-MTB and BMX tires are equipped with.
Silkworm (SW)
Silkworm is a protective layer developed by Maxxis that lies under the tread and protects the tire from punctures, tears and other carcass injuries.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tubeless tires have many advantages: You can drive with less air pressure. This gives better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no inner tube, the risk of punctures is also reduced. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other "tubeless ready" tires. Like a real UST tubeless tyre, the bead of the TR tires is completely covered with a layer of rubber. As a result, tubeless installation is successful for all rims with standard dimensions the first time you pump them up and with little liquid. "Normal" MAXXIS MTB tires can also be mounted tubeless with sealant like tires from other manufacturers, as the carcass fabric is very dense. However, only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved for tubeless assembly and guaranteed by MAXXIS. The tubeless assembly of other models is at your own risk.
Wide trail casing
Wide Trail (WT) construction optimizes tread layout and tire shape on today's wider rims. Traditional tires are developed for narrow rims and get a too square shape on wide rims and thus a less than optimal performance. WT tires are optimized for an internal rim width of 35 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an internal dimension between 30 and 39 mm.
